What are Drills?
As the word implies, "Drills" are tools made of
either high speed steel (HSS, HSS-Co), carbide and/
or, plain high carbon based-steel, with a spiralled or twisted,
pointed and sharpened cutting edge used to drill objects to obtain a
required bore or hole diameter. Drilling operations are
normally performed vertically, or, sometimes however, done
horizontally.
Holes can be drilled with precision by using CNC
Machines with a Carbide drill bits especially on Non-Ferrous metals.
While HHS drills can be used on a non critical-precision
related drilling jobs.
The most common types of Drills are Twist Drills,
Spiral Drills, Burnishing Drills, Step Drills, Coolant
Thru-Hole drills, Jobber and Stub-Length, NC Spotting and
Centering, Spade drills, PCD/CBN Brazed Drills, etc.
Drills can be used in Conventional Drilling Machines,
CNC Drilling Machines(Computer Numerically-Controlled
Machines), or NC (Numerically Controlld machines) Machines, or
Machining Center Machines. Or, can be used on a manual power
drill machines.
